Dear Mom,
I am well but weary. Jobs can be hard to find here and I'm looking at a very lean summer. Bacon here in Humboldt can be bought at the low low price of $0.87 a pound if you get the big 15-lb crates, and goes wonderfully in stews, scrambles, sandwiches, and maybe even apple pie--I'll let you know come September.
